I am interested in the ways that landscape has been depicted in the past as well as the present. Following the footpaths of the Lake District poets, visiting sites in Yorkshire, Wales and Ireland, I have explored the links between art, literature, and landscape. I strive to capture both the aesthetic essence and the sense of place that can be found in writers as varied as Wordsworth, the Bronte’s and W.H. Auden or Irish writers such as Maurice O'Sullivan. Closer to home I have followed in the footsteps of Bruce Chatwin (‘On the Black Hill’) or Brian Hatton along the ‘Hatton Trail’, the Breinton Springs Circular walk.
